Nigerians fleeing Sudan have access to Egypt thanks to FG

A tweet from 8:15 a.m. stating that the Egyptian border was “still not opened for our students” was followed by this update six hours later.

According to the Federal Government, Egypt has opened its borders to Nigerians trying to escape the Sudanese turmoil.

The Nigerians in Diaspora Commission (NIDCOM) announced on Monday that an Air Force plane had already touched down in Aswan, Egypt, and that the first group of evacuees will soon be processed.

The commission tweeted, “With the intervention of President Buhari, Egypt has finally opened its border to Nigerians fleeing Sudan.”

A tweet from NIDCOM at 8:15 a.m. stating that the Egyptian border was “still not opened for our students” was followed by this update six hours later.

With the NAF C 130 having arrived at Aswan Airport, it was nevertheless reported that the Nigerian Air Force was “ready,” adding, “We will not leave without our students.”
