The Bimodal Voters Accreditation System’s data won’t be compromised, according to the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).
In response to inquiries on Channels Television’s Sunrise Daily, INEC’s Deputy Head of ICT, Lawrence Bayode, assured viewers that the system will not be compromised on election day.
“The data on the BVAS will be secured, he said on Wednesday. “We have done everything to ensure that the BVAS is not hacked,” he said.
“The data in transit will be secured” when the data is sent from the poll to our backend server. The data will already be protected there by the time it reaches our backend server.
According to him, the electoral body has secured every loose end to guarantee the safety of the BVAS.
As I mentioned earlier, you cannot design such a system and would not reinforce the system to firm it. “We have looked at the machine, and “have looked at a number of things.
“People will make many attempts to undermine this system, whether we like it or not. But the more they make an effort, the more they run into resistance.
“I can positively state that we have fixed every surface attack vulnerability on this system, and we have also done everything we can to make sure that the system cannot be compromised on election day,” he added.
