Nigerian Army forces have successfully thwarted a bandit attack in Taraba State through a meticulously coordinated operation.
Captain Olubodunde Oni, the Acting Assistant Director of 6 Brigade Army Public Relations, made this announcement in a statement released on Thursday.
Oni indicated that the troops from 6 Brigade Sector 3 Operation Whirl Stroke (OPWS) acted on reliable intelligence concerning a potential terrorist assault on several villages.
He reported that the troops effectively prevented a planned banditry attack in the southern region of Taraba State.
Following the receipt of actionable intelligence, the troops initiated a series of proactive patrols, ambushes, and covert operations on December 11, 2024, to avert the impending attack.
These operations resulted in the capture of two suspected terrorists, identified as Terry Waapara and Tobaya Tekura, in Adu village. The suspects were apprehended while attempting to infiltrate the Chachanji market to execute their malicious plans, which were believed to involve kidnapping and other criminal acts, according to Oni.
