The Nigerian Army announced that troops from the 3 Division/Operation Safe Haven have apprehended two notorious kidnappers, Bashir Mohammed and Ismail Mohammad, in Plateau State.
In an official statement posted on its Facebook page on Sunday, the Nigerian Army announced that they conducted the operation on Saturday based on intelligence reports.
According to Army Headquarters, Operation LAFIYAN JAMA’A targeted a kidnappers’ hideout at Katume High Grounds in Bassa LGA. The raid was based on reliable intelligence indicating that the area is frequently used by kidnappers to conceal their victims during ransom negotiations.
The statement further mentioned that troops retrieved dangerous weapons during the operation, including an AK-47 rifle and a magazine for it, from the criminal elements.
The detained kidnappers are presently in custody, providing valuable confessions that will support subsequent operations to apprehend their accomplices and retrieve their weapons.
“The success underscores the effectiveness of Operation SAFE HAVEN’s initiatives in addressing regional insecurity,” it added.
