A Nigerian soldier, whose identity remains undisclosed, faces allegations of pilfering ammunition and military uniforms from his comrades in Katsina.
This soldier, reportedly affiliated with the 35 Battalion in Katsina town, endured public shaming and mistreatment at the hands of his peers.
A video acquired by the online publication SaharaReporters depicts the accused soldier with his hands bound behind him, being assaulted by fellow soldiers.
In the footage, one soldier can be heard expressing in Pidgin English, “He stole my ammunition, and that was not enough; he also took my SF (Special Force) uniform, and on top of that, he stole my regimental jacket.”
Another soldier remarked, “Look at him; we are all part of the same unit, the 35 Battalion. He has lost his integrity, selling our equipment to bandits, and we believed he was one of us, not realizing he is actually our adversary.”
As of the time of this report, Army spokesperson Major General Onyema Nwachukwu was unavailable for comment.
