The Federal Polytechnic Ede located in Osun State has implemented a suspension of 27 Higher National Diploma (HND) students for two semesters, alongside the banning of two previous leaders from campus who were part of the Student Union.

The EFCC’s recent riotous protest led to the implementation of this disciplinary action.

The commotion commenced after EFCC agents searched lodgings in the neighboring community of Owode Ede and detained over 70 individuals they suspected of engaging in internet fraud.

Several pupils subsequently held demonstrations outside the EFCC zonal office located in Ibadan to express their outrage towards these events.

Unfortunately, this act eventually escalated into a tumultuous protest on campus that led to various instances of property destruction.

The school management was accused by the students of not ensuring that the arrested individuals were released. As a result, an investigative panel was established by the management to look into this matter and they also halted all student union activities.

Confirmation of the disciplinary measures was given by Sola Lawal, who acts as the media director for the organization.

According to Lawal, an investigative committee was established by management at Federal Polytechnic in Ede Osun state after a disturbance occurred on May 9th, 2024 that caused people to be pelted with stones while congregating at senior staff club.

The unexpected and unprovoked behavior led to individuals’ properties being damaged along with those belonging to institutions.

After conducting extensive research into this matter, it became apparent how much these negative actions go against everything their esteemed establishment represents.”

In addition, he stated that “a total of twenty-seven students from HND levels one and two have received a suspension spanning across two academic sessions.

In addition, the institution has prohibited two past leaders of the Student Union from accessing either campus.”
