Superintendent of Police Ibrahim Sini made a public statement regarding his refusal of a N150 million bribe from businessman Akintoye Akindele in order to uphold his integrity and peace of mind. Akindele, who was facing charges in August 2023, was detained at the Kuje correctional center. The charges alleged that the bribe was intended to help Akindele escape the country and obtain a favorable police report.

Sini, who headed the Inspector General of Police’s investigative team, shared this information during a dinner in his honor in Abuja. He expressed his gratitude for the event organizers and emphasized the importance of choosing ethical actions for personal well-being and the benefit of the Nigeria Police and the nation.

Sini emphasized the importance of integrity to the younger generation, emphasizing that despite facing various obstacles, it is crucial to maintain one’s principles. He expressed his belief in the potential for Nigeria to achieve greatness and encouraged the youth to uphold their integrity.

At the ceremony, Sini was presented with a plot of land in Abuja. The Federal Capital Territory Commissioner of Police, Benneth Igweh, lauded Sini’s actions and commended him for bringing pride to the Nigeria Police Force. Igweh urged other members of the force to follow Sini’s example.

Chukwuemeka Okoye, CEO of Vegas Homes and the organizer of the event, praised Sini’s exceptional behavior, highlighting its potential to inspire others to acknowledge the integrity present in the Nigerian Police Force.

Okoye stated that Sini’s actions not only brought honor to himself and the force but also motivated many to combat corruption and uphold ethical standards. Sini’s integrity was described as a guiding light, demonstrating that even in difficult situations, one can remain steadfast in their values.
