A Nigerian pilot in the United States is at risk of a 5-year prison sentence after being accused of falsifying a certification, raising serious legal and professional concerns.
Olukayode Ojo, a Nigerian pilot aged 36, was convicted by a federal jury in the US for providing false information to procure an Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) certificate.
Robert J. Troester, the U.S. Attorney, disclosed that Ojo of Dallas, Texas was found guilty of obtaining a medical certificate necessary for operating commercial passenger airplanes through deceitful declarations.

Two counts of making false statements to federal authorities resulted in Ojo’s indictment on June 4, 2024, as per a statement made by the Transportation Security Administration on Monday.
On August 16, 2024, he was found guilty on both charges consecutively.
According to reports, after the jury rendered its verdict, U.S. District Judge Jodi Dishman ruled that Ojo should be held in custody until his sentencing. If convicted, the Nigerian aviator may face a maximum of five years in federal prison and fines up to $250,000 for each count.
