The Nigerian military reports killing several members of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) and seizing explosives, pump-action guns, and other weapons during a recent operation.

The Nigerian military announced that its Operation Udo Ka troops have eliminated several suspected members of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) and their security wing, the Eastern Security Network (ESN), in Imo State.

The Nigerian Army Headquarters announced this in a post on its official Facebook page on Monday.

The post indicated that the operation took place on the Ekeututu–Ihiteunansa Road within Orsu Local Government Area of the state.

The post states that during the operation, the troops came across individuals believed to be members of IPOB/ESN. In the subsequent confrontation, several suspected criminals were neutralized.

The seized items consisted of pump-action guns, improvised explosive devices (IEDs), materials for making IEDs, and charms.

Lieutenant General OO Oluyede, the Acting Chief of Army Staff, praised the troops for their bravery and encouraged them to continue their efforts in removing criminal elements from hiding places.

He also encouraged the peace-loving residents of the South East to continue their daily activities without worry.
