Festus Keyamo, the minister of aviation, denounced on Sunday claims that certain dishonest people were engaging in extortion and begging at the nation’s international airports.

The Minister bemoaned that the nation’s reputation has been damaged by employees who beg and threaten tourists in a post on his official X account.

He stated that messages from concerned residents who are still complaining about the situation are the reason his cell phone beeps once a minute.

The Minister made it clear that “despite being stationed at our airports, the majority of the agencies involved in this menace are not under the control of the Aviation Ministry.”

“Nevertheless, I have been collaborating closely with other Ministers, government departments, and agencies in charge of these agencies, and a resolution is imminent.”
