In order to verify their presence at their designated posts, the governor gave them instructions to sign attendance registers four times a day.

In the state capital of Maiduguri on Monday, Zulum gave the order while presiding over the swearing-in ceremony of 27 newly elected council chairmen.

The governor gave the Ministry for Local Government instructions to set up biometric data collection devices in the local government districts right once so that the chairmen may take daily fingerprints at 8 a.m., noon, 2 p.m., and 3.30 p.m.

He claimed that the action was required to prevent any chairman from skipping work or leaving without a valid excuse.

“Abscondment remains an impeachment offence,” according to Zulum.

“We have advised chairmen, times without number,” he continued, “but the advice has not been strictly adhered to.”

“It is very important that we have now designed a measure to ensure their presence.”

The governor stated that in order to support his administration’s commitment to the rehabilitation, reconstruction, and resettlement of displaced people, local government chairmen needed to be present with their constituents in light of the state’s improved security.

He asked them to use the limited resources of the local governments wisely.

Zulum also gave the just sworn-in chairmen the responsibility of distributing development projects to every community within their respective domains.

He also gave them the responsibility of closely collaborating with security forces to restore civil authority and solidify peace within their respective areas.

The governor oversaw the induction of 29 special advisers and seven permanent secretaries, according to the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN).
