The implementation of the new national minimum wage, set at N70,000 for workers on state and local government payrolls has been approved by Governor Ahmadu Fintiri of Adamawa State.

Starting in August, employees of the state government will begin to receive the new minimum wage as confirmed by Fashe.

However, local government workers should expect this increase reflected in their salaries starting from September onwards.
Fashe clarified that the state intends to employ the 2019 resulting modification format for the recently established salary system on a short-term basis until an official chart is issued by the National Salaries, Wages, and Income Commission.
He further stated that workers’ payments would be adapted proportionally in line with updated compensation standards if they were previously receiving N32,000 as their minimum wage amount.
The chairman of the NLC reiterated Governor Fintiri’s dedication towards prioritizing the well-being of employees from both state and local governments. This was evidenced by quickly implementing a new minimum wage even prior to receiving an official table from the National Salaries, Wages, and Income Commission.
The anticipated effect of this action is to uplift the spirits of employees in the public sector and drive increased efficiency across the state.
