A Nigerian cleaner was honoured with a promotion and cash reward after returning $10,000 found on an aircraft, showcasing integrity and honesty.
Mr. Auwal Dankode, a team member of NAHCO Aviance in Nigeria’s aviation industry, has received commendation and compensation for his honesty after discovering $10,000 whilst cleaning an airplane situated at Kano airport.
While performing his regular tasks on an Egypt Air flight, Dankode stumbled upon some money that had been forgotten by a traveler seated in 25H. He didn’t take a moment to consider what to do and promptly turned the funds over to the airline’s Station Manager.
Dankode was honored at the Lagos headquarters of his company in recognition of his outstanding integrity.
Mr. Indranil Gupta, Group Managing Director/CEO of NAHCO, commended Dankode’s honesty, diligence and hard work during the event; calling him a genuine representative of the company’s core values.

Dankode was awarded a cash reward, an instant promotion, and the esteemed designation of NAHCO Brand Ambassador as a way for the company to express their appreciation.
Dankode conveyed his thankfulness towards NAHCO, for providing him with the training and opportunity to work at the airport – which made him the first person from his area to do so. He expressed gratitude towards management for acknowledging his contributions and enabling a sustainable income source that helped improve living standards.
Dankode’s actions were praised by the NAHCO management team, which included CFO Mr. Adeoye Emiloju and COO Mr. Didier Steullet, who stressed the significance of integrity and urged him to stay on his praiseworthy course.
Dr. Sola Obabori, the Group Executive Director, emphasized that Dankode’s conduct not only established him as a symbol of honesty in Nigeria but also garnered favorable global recognition for the company.
In his new responsibility as a Brand Ambassador, Dankode will promote NAHCO’s values of honesty and excellence by representing the company at major events nationwide.
