General Christopher Musa, Nigeria’s Chief of Defence Staff (CDS), stated that the country will not permit its borders to be used as a base for launching attacks on any foreign nation.

Musa announced this in Sokoto on Thursday while speaking to the troops of “Operation Fansan Yamma” at a Christmas luncheon.

He also stressed that foreign military bases would not be allowed on Nigerian soil.

We are equipped and capable of managing our security challenges.

“We can collaborate with other nations by exchanging training opportunities—sending our personnel abroad for training and welcoming theirs here,” Musa stated.

He assured the neighboring countries of Niger, Chad, Cameroon, Benin, and Togo that Nigeria is committed to mutual security.

Any criminal group operating from Nigerian territory to attack our neighbors is considered an enemy of Nigeria, and we will take decisive measures against them.

“We stand united with our neighbors and are committed to neutralizing such threats,” he stated.

Musa urged Nigerians to understand that tackling the country’s security issues is a collective responsibility and should not be solely entrusted to the military.

He cautioned against individuals or groups taking advantage of religious or ethnic sentiments to mislead communities.

Many arrive posing as allies, only to later disclose their true intentions.

“This was true for the Lakurawa, who initially appeared friendly but have now become a major threat,” Musa stated.

The Chief of Defense Staff emphasized the military’s dedication to eliminating all criminal elements within the country.

Communities sheltering these criminals must either expel them or be ready to face the repercussions of our actions.

“We uphold human rights yet will take decisive measures against anyone assisting or encouraging threats to national security,” he cautioned.

Musa commended President Bola Tinubu for his unwavering support of the Armed Forces and his trust in their leadership.

“You embody the highest traditions of the Armed Forces. Remain united and keep making us proud.”
