Nigerian Athlete Wins Silver at Paris 2024 Paralympics

Nigeria celebrates as another athlete wins a silver medal at the Paris 2024 Paralympics, showcasing their prowess on the global stage.

At the Paris 2024 Paralympic Games, a silver medal in the women’s Javelin F54 event has been won by an athlete from Nigeria.

A throw of 19.26 meters earned Flora Ugwunwa the second-place spot, while Uzbekistan’s Nurkhon Kurbanova smashed a new world record with her impressive 21.12-meter toss.

Nigeria has secured its first-ever medal in the women’s Javelin category at the games, adding to a total of four medals won by the country thus far.

Ugwunwa, who is now 40 years old, has maintained her impressive Paralympic record by clinching her third consecutive medal in Paris after winning two golds in Rio and Tokyo. This time around she won a silver medal.

Elham Salehi of Iran received the bronze medal after achieving a throw distance of 16.24 meters.

Onyinyechi Mark, Eniola Bolaji and Esther Nworgu are among noteworthy Nigerian athletes who have won medals.
