The Chief of Army Staff (COAS), Lt.-Gen. Taoreed Lagbaja, announced the deployment of 5,937 newly trained soldiers to combat various crimes such as banditry, cattle rustling, and insurgency.

During the passing out parade for the 86th regular recruit intake at the Depot Nigeria Army in Zaria, Lagbaja emphasized the crucial role these recruits will play in addressing the security challenges faced by the country.

He highlighted the importance of continuous training and post-depot programs to enhance the soldiers’ proficiency with weapons and equipment, thus improving their effectiveness in combat situations.

Lagbaja also mentioned ongoing efforts to improve the welfare of soldiers, ensuring access to medical, recreational, and educational resources. Congratulating the recruits, he reminded them of the sacrifices involved in military service and urged them to prioritize the nation’s needs above personal comfort, while upholding values of discipline, loyalty, integrity, and dedication.

He commended the commandant and instructors at the Depot for their successful training and assured them of the Army headquarters’ support in achieving training goals.
