To improve national security, the Nigerian Army authorities has mandated that its soldiers everywhere in the nation make sure they follow the rules of engagement that have been placed on them.

This was revealed at a sensitization workshop sponsored by the Nigerian Army with the goal of fostering a more amicable relationship between the military and civilians in Gusau, the capital of Zamfara State, by Lieutenant General Taoreed Lagbaja, the Chief of Army Staff (COAS), through Major General Nosakhare C. Ugbo, the Chief of Civil Military Affairs.

Lagbaja emphasised the significance of rigorous legal compliance for Army personnel deployed for diverse operations in order to safeguard human rights and advance civil-military cooperation.

He believes that this will increase the good citizens of Nigeria’s confidence.

He said, “You must ensure adequate protection of the lives and property of law-abiding civilians as you embark on your constitutional responsibilities of dealing with terrorists and other criminals. They would appreciate your professionalism.”

Major General Godwin M. Mutkut, the Commanding Officer of the 8 Division and Force Commander of Joint Task Force Operation Hadarin Daji (OPHD), urged social media users to be patriotic citizens when sharing anything on public platforms.

Social media users were instructed by General Mutkut to never share false information or unconfirmed reports of victims or event scenes.

He declared, “The Nigerian Army needs patriotic citizens as much as they need our troops’ interventions in their communities that are being destroyed by terrorists and criminals.”
