During the ongoing EndBadGovernance protest in Kaduna State, a 16-year-old boy named Ismail Mohammed was fatally shot by Nigerian Army personnel. The army has since acknowledged and verified the arrest of its personnel responsible for the incident.

On Tuesday, during the dispersal of protesters by Nigerian army troops in Samaru community, Zaria, a young boy lost his life.

Earlier imposed by the Kaduna State Government, security operatives were enforcing a curfew in the ancient city.

A statement released on Tuesday night by the NA’s spokesperson, Onyema Nwachukwu confirmed the incident and revealed that the officer accountable for it had been apprehended.

On August 6th, 2024, the Nigerian Army was alerted to a situation in Samaru where hoodlums were causing chaos by burning tires on streets and throwing stones at security personnel.

The soldiers promptly organized and reached the location with a mission to disband the unruly crowd and implement the curfew enforced by the State’s administration.

When the soldiers arrived, the hoodlums launched an audacious attack. In response, a soldier fired a warning shot to deter them. Tragically, this resulted in 16-year-old Ismail Mohammed losing his life.

As of the time of this report, the soldier in question has been arrested and is currently undergoing interrogation.
