Nigerian Air used a rented plane from Ethiopian Airlines – MD
Nigeria Air was reportedly merely unveiled and not officially launched, according to the Ministry of Aviation.
Tuesday, Capt. Dapo Olumide, the interim managing director of Nigeria Air, claimed that the plane used to introduce the nation’s national anthem was a genuine chartered flight from Ethiopian Airlines.
Following the unveiling, he said the plane was returned to Ethiopian Airlines.
The Senate Committee on Aviation heard Olumide’s remarks.
In a meeting with Olumide, Emmanuel Meribole, the permanent secretary of the ministry of aviation, and the leaders of aviation agencies, the Committee members expressed their reservations about the introduction of the national carrier.
The immediate prior minister of aviation, Hadi Sirika, hurriedly introduced a national carrier on the final day of the Muhammadu Buhari administration, Senator Biodun Olujimi, the chairman of the Senate Aviation Committee, questioned at the hearing.
Additionally, Nigeria Air’s launch was deemed a hoax by Nnolim Nnaji, the chairman of the House Committee on Aviation.
Following meetings with aviation industry stakeholders, most of whom denied being aware of the launch, he made this statement.
Nigeria Air was just unveiled, according to the Ministry of Aviation, and not officially launched.
Capt. Dapo Olumide responded to the Committee by saying that the purpose of the launch of Nigeria Air was to show Nigerians that the project was not an accident.
