Results of the presidential election held on Saturday in the state of Ekiti have been announced by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).
Bola Tinubu, the candidate for the All Progressives Congress, won the state with 201,494 votes, or 65 percent of all valid ballots cast, according to the results announced on Sunday in Ado-Ekiti, the state capital by the chief collation officer, Professor Akeem Lasisi.
Atiku Abubakar, the candidate for the People’s Democratic Party (PDP), received 89,554 votes, or 29% of the total, while Peter Obi, the candidate for the Labour Party, received 11,397 votes, or 4%, and Rabiu Kwankwaso, the candidate for the New Nigerian People’s Party (NNPP), received 264 votes.
Vice-Chancellor Lasisi of the Federal University of Health Sciences in Ila Orangun, Osun State, stated, “In Ekiti, there are 315,058 accredited voters out of a total of 988,923 registered voters. 314,470 votes were cast, with 308,171 legitimate votes, 6,301 invalid votes, and 6,301 invalid votes. The outcome of the presidential election in Ekiti State is as follows.”
