In Niger State, Atiku Abubakar of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Peter Obi of the Labour Party, and Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso of the New Nigeria People’s Party were beaten by Ahmed Bola Tinubu, the APC’s presidential candidate.
Out of the 25 local government areas in the state, Tinubu won in 21, Atiku Abubakar won in 3, while Peter Obi of the Labour Party won in Suleja LGA.
The APC received 375,183 votes overall, while the PDP received 284,898 votes, according to Professor Clement Allawa, the Niger State Collation Officer and Deputy Vice-Chancellor for Academics at the University of Abuja.
He claimed that LP received 80,452 votes, while the New Nigeria Peoples Party received 21,836.
Prof. Allawa stated that there were 2,667,866 registered voters in the state, while there were 827,416 credentialed voters. He also stated that there were 778,668 votes that were cast that were legal, 34,687 ballots that were rejected, and 813,355 votes total.
Sani Idris Kutigi, the PDP’s state agent, rejected the results as a result and declined to sign them because he had heard from PDP polling unit agents that some local governments had not used BVAS to accredit candidates. He also claimed that the results had not been uploaded to the INEC server as promised prior to the elections, which was against the provisions of the new electoral Acts.
