As part of Nigeria’s 64th Independence celebration, President Tinubu convenes a 30-day National Youth Confab to address pressing issues facing the country’s youth. Learn more about the event’s goals and agenda.
President Bola Tinubu has declared a 30-day conference for the nation’s youth to discuss and tackle the challenges they face.
Tinubu made this statement on Tuesday during the broadcast commemorating Nigeria’s 64th Independence Day.
The President stated that the procedures for the conference and the selection of delegates would be established as soon as possible.
“While we strive to tackle today’s challenges, we keep the next generation in our thoughts, aiming to harness their creative energy for a brighter future,” he stated during his second Independence Day Anniversary Address since taking office on May 29, 2023.
“We move forward today with the future we wish to leave for our children in mind, acknowledging that we cannot create a future meant for them without involving them as its architects.”
Taking this into account, I am delighted to announce the organization of a National Youth Conference. This event will serve as a platform to discuss the various challenges and opportunities faced by our youth, who make up more than 60 percent of our population.
“It will spark meaningful conversations and empower our youth to take an active role in nation-building. By making sure their voices are considered in forming the policies that affect them, we pave the way for a brighter future.”

The 30-day Confab will bring together young people from across the nation to collaboratively devise solutions for challenges in education, employment, innovation, security, and social justice.
The methods for organizing this conference and selecting delegates will be developed in close collaboration with young people through their representatives. As leaders, our responsibility during this confab is to ensure that the aspirations of youth are central to the discussions.
“The government will carefully review and enact the recommendations and conclusions from this forum, as we stay determined in our commitment to creating a more inclusive, prosperous, and united Nigeria.”
Tinubu also mentioned that his administration has undertaken reforms in Nigeria’s political economy and defense structure to ensure the country’s survival.
The President also praised the resilience of the Nigerian people, noting that their country has withstood crises that have torn other nations apart.
Tinubu stated that his administration is resolute in its efforts to defeat bandits and terrorists, enabling displaced farmers to return to their lands and increase production, ultimately aiming to lower the steeply rising food prices.
