Nigeria Would Have Been Better if Peter Obi Won 2023 Election – Abaribe
Senator Abaribe asserts that Nigeria would have experienced better governance and progress if Peter Obi had won the 2023 presidential election, sparking political debate.
Senator Enyinnaya Abaribe, who represents Abia South, believes that Nigeria would be in a better situation today if Peter Obi, the Labour Party candidate in the 2023 presidential election, had emerged victorious.
Abaribe stated that nepotism, which flourishes under President Bola Tinubu, would not have existed if Obi were president.
The legislator delivered this statement during the Politics Today program on Channels Television, broadcasted on Monday.
“If Peter Obi had been victorious, you might be witnessing a better Nigeria than the one we see today.”
“Firstly, he would not display the same level of nepotism as this government; it’s simply not in his nature. We genuinely care about others,” he stated.
Supporting his nepotism accusation against the President, Abaribe questioned Tinubu’s decision to appoint four ministers solely from Ogun State, while many other states are represented by just one minister.

He claimed that Buhari followed a path of nepotism, which has intensified under President Tinubu because when Buhari practiced it, there was little objection.
The senator added that instead of relying on presidents to treat the people of the South-East fairly, it is crucial for those in the region to take action themselves. They should focus on revitalizing their area, making it more livable and cohesive.
He noted that, besides Obasanjo and Jonathan, no other president has been fair to the people. He emphasized that they cannot keep waiting for this fairness indefinitely.
Commenting on the arrest of Simon Ekpa, who claims to be the Prime Minister of Biafra in exile, in Finland, Abaribe expressed that it is a positive development.
He stated that Ekpa’s arrest would serve as a message to those back home who are spreading violence and influenced by the Finland-based Biafra advocate, noting that following his arrest, Ekpa denied being the Biafran Prime Minister.
The lawmaker noted that the Igbo community consistently denounces the actions and directives of Ekpa and his associates from abroad.
Senator Abaribe expressed that releasing Nnamdi Kanu could help to end the violence in the South-East.
He mentioned that once Kanu is released, many of those committing violent acts in his name will no longer have any motivation to continue.
