Nigeria wants a stronger strategic partnership with Cuba, according to Shettima
The government of President Bola Tinubu expressed a wish to strengthen current bilateral ties with the Republic of Cuba on Thursday through Vice President Kashim Shettima.
Shettima reportedly remarked this when paying a courtesy call to Salvador Valdez Mesa, the vice president of Cuba, in the Palace of Revolution in Havana, according to a statement by Olusola Abiola, the director of information for the office of the vice president.
Shettima is now in Cuba to represent Tinubu at the G77+China Leaders’ Summit, which will take place from September 15 to September 17 in Havana, Cuba.
Shettima outlined the history of Cuba’s links with Africa during the tour, focusing on its support for Southern Africa.
In particular, Obama praised Cuba’s dedication to helping the United States in Africa.
Shettima praised the two countries’ current partnership while reiterating the necessity for them to renew their commitment to future ties.
Our relationship has been quite good over the years, but it has to be upgraded and strengthened. This is why I came here to look at potential areas of partnership, along with the Ministers of Agriculture and Science, Technology, and Innovation,” the Vice President said.
Shettima informed Miguel Diaz-Canel of the commitment of the Cuban government to strengthening their bilateral relations while delivering a special message from President Tinubu to the leader of Cuba.
