On Sunday, he spoke in Abuja as the Annual General Conference of the Nigerian Bar Association got underway at the Velodrome, MKO Abiola Stadium.
According to President Bola Tinubu, the nation must undergo “difficult changes” to gain respect from other countries.
On Sunday, he addressed in Abuja as the Nigerian Bar Association’s (NBA) 2023 Annual General Conference was being officially opened at the Velodrome of the MKO Abiola Stadium.
Although the initial reforms may be painful, Tinubu contends that Nigeria must be prepared to make the difficult decisions necessary to put the nation on the path of development.
Without the reforms we have started, our country will not be what we want it to be. In the short- and medium-term, it hurts, but we have to make the necessary sacrifices to lead this country to its magnificent destiny. Neither you nor I are the focus of this. According to a statement released on Sunday by Tinubu’s media assistant Ajuri Ngelale, “it is about our generations yet to be born, for whom we must leave a great and prosperous country.”
Tinubu referred to Nigeria’s external debt servicing figure as “unsustainable” when criticising it.
With 90% of our revenue going towards debt servicing, can we continue? It leads only to disaster. It can’t last forever. The President said, “We must make the extremely tough changes required for our country to emerge from slumber and gain respect among the great nations of the globe.
The former governor of Lagos State also pledged to address the issue of judicial and legal professionals’ salaries.
“You are educated. I’d like to learn. Why do we have so much good fortune but still lack? It is necessary for us to alter our perspective and attitude. We hold our country and its former leaders accountable,” he stated.
“We often lament the past. Is that a workable answer? No! Let’s be determined and look forward! Our needs have been met by God. It starts with those of you who are sat here with me, and we must work diligently and resolutely to make our nation great.
