Joe Igbokwe responds to Davido’s statement on Nigeria’s economic struggles, accusing the singer of forgetting the country’s role in his success.
Joe Igbokwe, a leader of the All Progressives Congress (APC), criticized singer Davido for advising Americans not to move to Nigeria.
recalls that Davido, during an appearance on an American podcast, advised US citizens against considering a move to Africa—particularly Nigeria—citing the country’s economy being in “shambles.”
In response, Igbo requested an apology and retraction from Davido, emphasizing that the country played a significant role in shaping his identity.
He posted on Facebook, “My in-law Davido has disappointed me by announcing to the world in America that Nigeria’s economy is struggling. This is truly disheartening. I would suggest he retract his statement as soon as possible. After all, it was Nigeria that made him successful—end of story!”
