“Nigeria Is Bleeding” – Governor Fintiri Urges Federal Government to Act
Adamawa State Governor Ahmadu Fintiri warns the Federal Government about Nigeria’s worsening state, calling for urgent intervention.
On Thursday, Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri, the Governor of Adamawa State, expressed criticism towards the Federal Government’s economic policies, alleging that they are causing significant hardship for Nigerians.
He delivered the statement at a National Reconciliation Committee meeting of the People’s Democratic Party, which included governors from the North East and other significant stakeholders in Bauchi. The Governors of Bauchi and Taraba were present, along with the acting PDP National Chairman.
Fintiri voiced his frustration with the country’s economic situation, saying: “Nigeria is in distress; we are struggling. There’s widespread anger, and the current economic policy isn’t effective. This is why we continually urge the Federal Government to review some of these policies that are burdening Nigerians.”

He added that occupying a position of authority is a divine privilege, and as such, the nation should be led with trust and responsibility.
The governor also called on the Federal Government to prioritize policies that avoid causing additional hardship for Nigerians. He expressed, “Policies that cause us distress should not be adopted because this country belongs to its people, not the World Bank, IMF, or the international community.”
During his comments on party unity, Fintiri assured that the three governors from the North-East would collaborate to enhance the strength of the PDP in their region.
The governor also emphasized the significance of regional unity, attributing it as a key factor in the party’s success across all states in the area during the most recent presidential election.
He stated, “PDP did not lose in any state within the zone. We are still puzzled about our loss in Borno because we believe we actually won that election.”
In the meeting, Olagunsoye Oyinlola, who serves as the Chairman of the National Reconciliation Committee, recognized the reasons behind the party’s defeat in the recent election.
He pointed to internal divisions within the party as a major reason and emphasized the committee’s dedication to resolving these matters.
“We’re here to engage with the leaders and members of our great party in order to discuss where we’ve fallen short in our responsibilities, leading to the outcome we experienced,” Oyinlola stated.
