Nigeria has achieved a significant milestone with a female peacekeeping participation rate of 27.9%

Chief of Defence Staff General Christopher Musa said that the Armed Forces of Nigeria (AFN) had reported a 27.9 percent female engagement rate in peacekeeping operations (CDS).

This is below the UN-established requirement of 17 percent for gender mainstreaming.

With the topic of “Building capacity through gender mainstreaming to meet security challenges,” General Musa made this statement in his welcome speech at the Defence Headquarters Gender Mainstreaming Conference in 2023.
