The 2024 eSports World Cup, which is set to take place in March for 42 African countries, will be hosted in Nigeria, according to the Nigeria eSports Federation.
Agbor Ayuk, the chairman of the Nigeria eSports Federation, revealed this to reporters on Monday in Calabar.

He said that the federation is a member of the Confederation of Africa eSports and has an agreement with the Nigeria Universities Games Association (NUGA) and the Federal Ministry of Sports Development.
He claimed that while eSports were once played for fun, they are now a lucrative industry.

“The Nigeria eSports Federation is already affiliated with 25 states, including Cross River, out of the 36 states in the federation and the Federal Capital Territory (FCT),” the speaker stated.
He clarified that the Federation was working to address some of its issues, such as parents who discourage their children because they don’t know what their children are doing.
Due to the intense mental demands of the games, according to Ayuk, no youngster participating in eSports is failing academically.
