Promotional tests for its officers have started across the country with the Nigeria Customs Service.
The test for the positions of Deputy Comptrollers, Assistant Comptrollers and Chief Superintendent of Customs began on Tuesday at Sascon International School in Abuja.
Bashir Adewale Adeniyi, the acting comptroller general of customs, promised that the exam will be open and fair during his remarks during the exercise.

“We held some motivational chats with them to help them trust the system and comprehend all the efforts we have taken to make sure the procedure is highly ethical. We want them to understand that advancement now is determined by merit rather than connections.
“The assessment I received regarding the degree of preparedness attests to the fact that we are finally coming to terms with that reality; it’s about what you know, how capable you are, and how you can demonstrate the knowledge of the job. So that’s what should show up and what we count for each of these officers writing the examinations,” Adeniyi said.
