The Niger State Government has paid the N205 million in Senior School Certificate Examination (SSCE) fees outstanding to the West African Examination Council (WAEC).

This information was revealed at a news conference in Minna, the state capital, by Ms. Aisha Wakaso, the special adviser to Governor Muhammad Umar Bago on print media.

She claims that the state government made the decision to settle the debt in order to guarantee the release of the kids’ withheld WAEC results.

“So far, the results of students from Niger State withheld because there has been no settlement of debts owed by the state for students,” she said.

The government has received samples of compressed natural gas (CNG) buses, which will be purchased to ease transportation problems faced by state residents, according to the governor’s adviser.

She continued by saying that the 200 automobiles the State had ordered will arrive soon.

Recall that in order to ease the hardship caused by the loss of fuel subsidies and to continue to offer free transport to students and teachers in the state, the state government had inked an arrangement with four different contracting businesses for the procurement of at least 200 CNG buses at a cost of N7 billion.
