Journalist Jaafar Jaafar argues that Ngelale’s position as Tinubu’s spokesman stems from his accent rather than any earned expertise in the field.
Following his resignation on Friday, Ajuri Ngelale, former spokesman for President Bola Tinubu, was criticized by Jaafar Jaafar – an investigative journalist from Nigeria.
According to Jaafar, Ngelale was appointed as the first presidential spokesperson due to his distinct television presence and “Oyibo” accent.
Earlier, OBASANJONEWS stated that the former spokesperson of Tinubu announced his plan to temporarily step away from his official responsibilities.

On Friday, a memo was submitted to the President’s Chief of Staff, Femi Gbajabiamila.
On Saturday, Jaafar posted on his X handle that he believed Tinubu brought Ngelale onboard solely for appearance purposes in order to improve the President’s aged image and hoarse speaking style.
According to him, Ajuri Ngelale’s appointment as presidential spokesman was based on his television appearance and foreign accent rather than PR or media skills.
He claims that Tinubu’s family recommended him for the position in order to improve the president’s image but he quickly became arrogant and clashed with other influential figures within the administration.
