The appointment of the new coach for the Super Eagles has caused a disagreement between the Sports Minister John Enoh and the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF).
While the NFF favors the continuity of Finidi George, the minister is supporting Emmanuel Amuneke.
Initially, the NFF’s technical committee was leaning towards appointing Domenec Torrent, who is highly recommended due to his long-standing partnership with Manchester City boss Pep Guardiola.

However, the situation took a turn for the worse, leading the NFF committee to reconsider their options.
They have now come up with a new list, with George as the preferred choice, followed by Amuneke and Daniel Amokachi.
The NFF believes that Finidi George’s experience as an assistant to Peseiro during the AFCON final and his interim role in charge of the team during the friendlies against Ghana and Mali make him the ideal candidate for the job.
Additionally, George’s calm and unassuming nature, coupled with his gentlemanly demeanor, make him someone the NFF would be delighted to collaborate with. In fact, George himself has expressed his interest in the Super Eagles post and has garnered support from the Minister.
