NFF officially announces the appointment of a new coach for the Flying Eagles, set to lead the team in future competitions.

The new Head Coach of the Flying Eagles, Nigeria’s National U-20 Boys team, is Aliyu Zubairu. The Nigerian Football Federation (NFF) assigned him this position as he previously served as Technical Adviser for El-Kanemi Warriors.

Zubairu’s coaching career takes a significant step with this decision, which stems from the recommendation of NFF’s Technical and Development Sub-Committee.

Zubairu has been appointed following his recent achievement with El-Kanemi Warriors of Maiduguri. Under his leadership, the team emerged victorious in the President Federation Cup by defeating Abia Warriors FC in Lagos back in June.

Despite their recent elimination from the CAF Confederation Cup in a 2-1 aggregate loss to Benin Republic’s Daje FC during the preliminary round, The Warriors began their 2024/2025 NPFL season on a strong note by earning an impressive scoreless draw against reigning champions Rangers.

Ladan Bosso, one of the Flying Eagles’ most tenured coaches, has been succeeded by Zubairu. Meanwhile, Bosso has assumed the position of Technical Adviser for Bayelsa United.

Zubairu, the newly appointed Head Coach, will have to swiftly form and train a team for the forthcoming WAFU B U20 Championship in Togo. This competition serves as an opportunity to decide which team from this region qualifies for Africa’s next year U20 Cup of Nations.

Zubairu is anticipated to inject a new wave of vitality and steerage into the Flying Eagles’ leadership, driving their success in both the regional tournament and future endeavors.
