New Zealand rang in the New Year with a spectacular fireworks show that illuminated the skies above Auckland.

Amidst a year marked by conflict and political turbulence, Auckland is joining cities worldwide in hosting New Year’s celebrations.

New Zealand, along with Australia, is among the first countries to celebrate the arrival of the new year.

Estimates suggest that over 1 million people have gathered at Sydney Harbour for the yearly fireworks display. In addition, Indigenous ceremonies are taking place to honor the land’s original communities.

At the same time, American Samoa is one of the final places in the world to welcome 2025, doing so a full 24 hours after New Zealand.
