New Plateau community attack results in 20 fatalities
In the Barkin-Ladi Local Government Area of Plateau State in North Central Nigeria, assailants reportedly killed twenty people and injured over ten more in the Heipang District.
Residents of the neighbourhood claimed that the attackers broke into the neighbourhood while they were asleep on Thursday morning, according to a report by Channels Television.
Residents stated that despite the vigilantes’ best attempts, the attackers were still able to escape thanks to their higher firepower compared to the vigilantes’ Dane firearms.
They claim that during the fight with the attackers, four of the vigilantes were killed when they set some homes on fire, killing occupants who were asleep and unable to flee the sudden attack.
Mark John The attackers broke into the complex, set fire to the house, and murdered every member of the family while they were all asleep, according to Pam, a local who lost five relatives, including his brother Dung Mark, the wife, and three children.
The Public Relations Officer of the Plateau State Police Command, DSP Alfred Alabo, confirmed the occurrence and said that there were more people on the lookout for the assailants and that security had been bolstered in the neighbourhood.
