New NYSC coordinator appointed in Akwa Ibom
Mr. Christopher Okun has recently taken over as the 19th state coordinator of the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) in Akwa Ibom State, replacing Mrs. Chinyere Ekwe who has been redeployed to the NYSC Area Office in Minna, Niger State.
A statement released by the NYSC Public Relations Officer, Mr. Udogwu Madukaku, confirmed that Okun previously served as the Deputy Director (Operations) at the South South Area Office in Asaba, Delta State.
Okun, a graduate of the former Bendel State University (now Ambrose Ali University) in Ekpoma, Edo State, obtained his B.A. (Hons) in History in 1987.
According to the statement, Okun’s appointment marks him as the 19th Chief Executive Officer/State Coordinator of the NYSC in Akwa Ibom State, with high expectations for his leadership.

The new State Coordinator is anticipated to leverage his extensive experience gained over the years with the NYSC to enhance the operations of the scheme in the state and propel it to greater heights.
Ekwe, in her handover note, expressed confidence in Okun’s capabilities and praised the dedication of the NYSC Akwa Ibom staff during her tenure.
The statement also highlighted Okun’s appreciation for Ekwe’s leadership qualities and her caring attitude towards the corps members, wishing her success in her new role.
