The Renewed Hope Agenda will be realised under the current administration, according to Dr. Aminu Maida, Executive Vice-Chairman (EVC) of the Nigerian Communications Commission (NCC).

On Wednesday in Abuja, Maida was speaking with NCC staff when she made her statement.

He added that he will support President Bola Tinubu’s pledges to push the country’s digital transformation programme.

Speaking to the commission’s senior management team, Maida emphasised the need for the NCC to strategically prioritise ensuring that all Nigerians have access to cost-effective and dependable internet services.

He claimed that effective broadband infrastructure dissemination across all of Nigeria was a part of this.

The newly appointed telecom regulator praised his predecessors for their admirable contributions to creating a robust telecoms sector.

The EVC declared that one of his priorities would be to pursue higher network service quality while also supporting the administration’s agenda via the Ministry of Communications, Innovations, and Digital Economy.

According to Maida, “The communication infrastructure is presently under significant stress given that many people are getting increasingly digital and virtual in all they do.

In his vision, President Tinubu underlines the necessity of constructing more reliable broadband connectivity, which will not only enable seamless digital transactions but also act as the cornerstone for e-governance and other socioeconomic projects.

As a result, we would support the goal of reaching 70% broadband penetration and 90% coverage of the population by 2025.

We must therefore create a trustworthy telecom sector with exceptional quality of service (QoS) metrics, with quality of experience (QoE) as our guiding principle and ultimate objective.

He stated that during his term, a number of concerns would be addressed, including the Right of Way (RoW) problem and maintaining the security of the telecom infrastructure, among others.

Maida argued that by making the NCC performance-driven, efforts must be taken to greatly improve service delivery.

Mr. President has a very clear agenda that we will all base our decisions on. The two main focuses are on enabling the digital economy and creating jobs.

In a word, our goal is for everything we do as members of this Commission to be in direct alignment with the Minister of Communications, Innovations, and Digital Economy’s Strategic Plan.

Because my key performance indicators (KPIs) are fed into the Minister’s KPIs and the President’s KPIs are derived from the voters who elected him to office, we will not entertain anything that veers from this course.

“The Minister has said clearly that he is ready to build a robust digital infrastructure and empower three million Nigerians digitally, and we have to do our best to support him in this regard,” the speaker said.

According to Maida, the Strategic proposal of the Minister included a proposal to encourage three million Nigerians to start their own businesses and develop their digital abilities.

According to him, the commission would need to support Digital Bridge Institute (DBI) as a digital training facility in order for it to effectively advance the government’s vision for young empowerment.

The EVC also underlined how crucial it is to manage and utilise the spectrum effectively in order to promote the desired digital connection goal.

According to Maida, this was crucial for the delivery of services to the majority of Nigerians and businesses operating there.

He expressed his gratitude to the commission’s whole personnel as well as his predecessors for the admirable role they had played in encouraging the construction of minimal communications infrastructure, which had aided in the digital transformation of all industries.

The EVC urged the staff members of the commission to work alongside him and the president to advance the realisation of the president’s Renewed Hope Agenda.

He claimed it acknowledged the role a thriving digital economy plays in ensuring everyone’s quality of life and sustainable development. (NAN)
