Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu hails former President Trump’s bold Gaza plan as a potential game-changer in Middle East history. Read more about the proposed strategy and its implications.

Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has expressed interest in considering and exploring US President Donald Trump’s proposal for a US takeover of Gaza. He praised Trump as Israel’s “best friend” for his innovative thinking.

At a joint press conference with Netanyahu at the White House on Tuesday, Trump revealed plans for the US to take control of the enclave, remove debris from damaged buildings, and undertake its reconstruction. He also reaffirmed his stance that Palestinians should be permanently relocated outside of Gaza.

Netanyahu reacted favorably to Trump’s proposal, calling it a move that could be historically significant.

He stated that a primary objective for the Jewish state in the 15-month conflict was “to ensure Gaza never threatens Israel again.”

“President Trump is elevating the situation significantly. He envisions a different future for that area,” Netanyahu stated. “He possesses an alternative idea, and I believe it’s worth considering.”

“I believe it has the potential to be historic,” Netanyahu remarked, highlighting that both parties are exploring various possibilities. “Your readiness to challenge traditional thinking—which has repeatedly fallen short—and your ability to bring innovative ideas will enable us to accomplish these aims.”

The Israeli leader emphasized that Trump was the “greatest friend Israel has ever had in the White House.” He pointed out several pro-Israel actions from Trump’s first term, such as recognizing Jerusalem as Israel’s capital, relocating the US embassy there, officially supporting Israeli sovereignty over the Golan Heights, and pulling out of what he termed “the disastrous Iran nuclear deal.”

According to Trump’s proposal, the US would assume control of Gaza and transform it into the “Riviera of the Middle East,” with about 2 million Palestinian inhabitants being relocated elsewhere. When questioned about deploying US troops to Gaza, Trump stated he would consider sending them if deemed “necessary.”
