Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has asserted success in thwarting an alleged Iranian attack on Israeli territory. Netanyahu’s claim follows a period of heightened tensions between Israel and Iran, with the Israeli military on high alert for potential threats. According to Netanyahu, Israeli defense forces successfully intercepted and neutralized the purported Iranian aggression, preventing any significant damage or casualties. The assertion of victory comes as Netanyahu seeks to reassure the Israeli public and underscore Israel’s commitment to defending its sovereignty against external threats, particularly those emanating from Iran.
Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has announced that Israel has successfully repelled a massive Iranian drone and missile attack that occurred overnight. According to the Israeli military, they were able to intercept 99% of the incoming aerial objects. The attack, which the Israel Defense Forces (IDF) described as “extensive,” involved over 300 missiles and kamikaze drones launched by Tehran.
Iran claimed that this attack was in retaliation for an alleged Israeli airstrike on its consulate in Damascus, which resulted in the deaths of several senior Iranian military officers. In his first public comments since the attack, Netanyahu expressed confidence in their ability to repel the onslaught, stating, “We intercepted.
We blocked. Together we will win.” Israeli Defense Minister Yoav Gallant also emphasized the success of the defense operation, stating that Israel, the US, and their partners had thwarted the attack in an unparalleled manner.
He further described Iran as a “terrorist state” and highlighted that this incident revealed the true face of Iran to the world. Rear Admiral Daniel Hagari, the IDF spokesman, praised the interception of 99% of the threats as a significant strategic achievement, attributing it to the technological superiority of the IDF and the support of a strong coalition.
On the other hand, Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) claimed to have hit and destroyed important military targets, although no further details were provided. The IDF did acknowledge minor damage to one of its military bases.
