The North East Development Commission’s (NEDC) managing director and chief executive officer, Alhaji Mohammed Goni Alkali, has received the North East Elders and Youth Peoples Forum (NEEYPF) award for excellent leadership.

Alhaji Salisu Magaj, the Chairman of the NEEYPF, said during a press conference at the Chartwell Hotel in Bauchi that the award was a component of the celebration of the stakeholders’ efforts to conclude the year 2023 in the process of reconstructing the North East sub-region following the insurgency.
“Alkali received recognition for his exceptional involvement in the subregion’s strategic and developmental peace-building process and action plans,” stated Magaji.

According to Magaji, the award was granted to the MD of NEDC in recognition of his exceptional commitment to peace and development, with the intention of inspiring other leaders to uphold these values while carrying out their duties.

The Chairman of the NEEYPF clarified that the organization’s custom was to recognise and honour notable key leaders in the community each year in honour of their modesty, responsibility, openness, and constructive efforts, as well as their support and assistance for peace and development processes and the restoration and rehabilitation of North East infrastructure.

According to him, Alkali was chosen for the prize, which is essential for acknowledgment as a driving force behind smart and progressive peacebuilding initiatives and action plans.
In all 112 local government districts in the area, Magaji highlighted numerous feasible projects that have been carried out or are now in progress that directly benefit people’s lives.

According to him, the projects included building 3500 mass housing units in six states, mega schools in eighteen senatorial zones—three in each state and one in each senatorial district—and several highways, such as the Gombe-Abba-Kirfi Road and the Alkaleri-Futuk Road.

He claimed that after evaluating Alkali’s performance and his efforts to reconstruct North East, he was acknowledged as a beneficiary of NEDC legacy projects.

He declared, “It is very clear now that the man is an administrator determined to provide self-evident democratic dividends.”

It seems that the lesson is that a typical leader should know what he wants to do and, more importantly, how to accomplish it.

“Now that the Alkali has demonstrated that he can solve the aforementioned riddle by coordinating, harmonising, and supervising the success of numerous intervention and initiative programmes for the Northeastern States with his excellent, superior, and exceptional managerial skills, the doubters have to face the truth.”His accomplishments serve as models for all.

It is extremely noteworthy that 1000 housing units and other centres, as well as food, were provided to the people of Borno State.

Let’s not forget that at some point in 2019, the president, in all his wisdom, announced a 10,000 housing initiative to help families who had been uprooted by terrorists find new homes.

In addition to the 1000 houses he constructed in Borno State, Alkali is currently constructing 500 residences in Yobe, Adamawa, Taraba, Gombe, and Bauchi. Along with the dwelling units, the neighbourhood has other necessary facilities such a police station, a vehicle park, solar-powered street lighting, and boreholes.

Along with food and other relief supplies, the beneficiaries also received provisions for education.

“Under a policy dubbed the “Integrated Agriculture policy,” the commission also gave many farmers more power by supplying them with agricultural gear and equipment, seeds, fertilisers, agrochemicals, and logistical vehicles on an annual basis (IAP).

The entirety of the 112 LGAs in the Northeast are covered. Additionally, the NEDC offers training, skill development, and beginning packs to learners in information and communication technology (ICT). Alkali gave some of his time away.

“A boost to vocational skills and entrepreneurship.

“To draw attention away from the allure of being drafted into Boko Haram, The NEDC has empowered women and youths in each of the 1,028 wards of the Northeast region.”

The task assigned to the NEDC by the Nigerian government may appear straightforward on the surface, but it is anything but.

It is an enormous undertaking to provide relief to an area where terrorism has eroded.

The UN still has a lot of obstacles to overcome before it can effectively provide relief and humanitarian help to regions devastated by conflict or targeted by terrorists, despite its advanced status.

In light of the work he completed for us in the Northeast, you could see that Akali is a guy of integrity and high status.

“His exceptional leadership style is something that any visionary leader should aspire to, and we greatly value his humility and inclusivity.”

The NEDC has a lot of accomplishments ahead of it; the housing units and other amenities are merely a taste.

“I think the Northeast will soon be fully brought back to not only its previous glory, but even better.”With God’s grace, we will arrange a time to give him the honour in a lavish ceremony.

“And as a token of gratitude for his influential and developmental projects, we are pleading with traditional institutions to bestow upon Alkali an appropriate title.”
