The intentions by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s administration to accomplish an eight-point agenda in three years have the support of the Nigeria Employers’ Consultative Association (NECA) and the Nigerian Economic Summit Group (NESG).
According to OBASANJO NEWS24, the Minister of Finance and Coordinating Minister of the Economy, Mr. Wale Edun, stated that the Federal Executive Council has established eight priority areas to deliver for Nigerians in the next three years during the first meeting of the council, which was presided over by the president.
Dr. Tayo Aduloju, the Chief Executive Officer of NESG, responded to the situation on Tuesday by saying that if rigorously carried out, the federal government’s stated plans would get the country out of trouble.
Aduloye asked the new ministers to use the ensuing three months to reevaluate and improve the strategies that would put the country’s economy on a successful course.
We urge the cabinet to use the opportunity of the mid-point review of the National Development Plans and the Sustainable Development Goals to recalibrate the nation for success, finish the fine-tuning of policies and repositioning of institutions in the upcoming three months so that the upcoming three years are spent in execution mode, not “review mode,” the minister said.
In a same vein, Mr. Adewale-Smatt Oyerinde, Director-General of NECA, asked the government to maintain proper coordination in order to carry out the agenda that was set forth.
In order to prevent it from falling victim to inter-ministerial misalignments and limited implementation, as seen in previous administrations, he urged the establishment of significant coordination efforts.
