Ndume Urges Senate to Support Ifeanyi Ubah’s Widow for Succession
Senator Ali Ndume appeals to the Senate to approve Ifeanyi Ubah’s widow as his successor, emphasizing compassion and continuity in leadership.
In a sincere and emotional request, Senator Ali Ndume of Borno South has urged the Senate to appoint the late Senator Ifeanyi Ubah’s widow as his successor for the Anambra South Senatorial District seat.
This request was made at a Valedictory session on Tuesday, held in tribute to the late senator.
Ndume highlighted the significance of preserving Senator Ubah’s legacy and dreams by entrusting his family with continuing his work.
He contended that making such a decision would not only pay tribute to Ubah’s contributions in the Senate but also maintain the continuity of his vision for the constituency.
Ndume referenced historical examples to emphasize occasions when similar measures were implemented to uphold stability and honor the sacrifices of deceased lawmakers.
He encouraged his colleagues to back this initiative in honor of the late senator’s lasting influence on both the Senate and his constituents.
Ndume expressed his desire to President praying that they continue to honor and uphold Ifeanyi’s spirit and aspirations.

This situation has occurred previously. After the passing of Chuba Okadigbo, a prominent politician, his wife Margery continued his legacy by joining the Senate.
In a similar vein, our First Lady, Oluremi Tinubu, served in this chamber with significant backing from the goodwill of Lagos residents and her husband’s legacy as a former governor.
Ndume also mentioned other instances, such as Senator Tokunbo Abiru, whose father was a senator in 1979, and Senator Abdulaziz Yar’Adua, who continues the political tradition of the Yar’Adua family.
He pointed out that Senator Iyabo Obasanjo and Senator Ede Dafinone continued their family traditions by serving in the Senate, following in their fathers’ footsteps.
To emphasize his point, Ndume stated, “His wife is thankfully about 50 years old and has been an incredible support system for him.”
I urge you, Mr. President, and my esteemed colleagues to endorse the inclusion of a spiritual representative for his family in this chamber.
“This will guarantee ongoing continuity and uphold honor for the Anambra South Senatorial District.”
It was reported that Uchenna, the widow of Ubah, attended the Senate Chamber’s valedictory service held in honor of her late husband.
