Senator Ali Ndume, the Senate Majority Chief Whip, expressed his concern over the inadequate remuneration for security agencies during an interview on Channels Television’s Politics Today.

He emphasized that recruits are being paid less than N50,000 per month, which is insufficient to meet their basic needs. Senator Ndume, who previously chaired the Senate Committee on the Army, urged the Federal Government to urgently review the stipends and salaries of military personnel currently serving.

He highlighted the disparity between the meager allowances given to soldiers and the sacrifices they make in protecting the nation.

Senator Ndume also pointed out that the salaries of security agencies have not been reviewed since 2008 and called for an increase in recruitment to address the manpower deficit in the Nigerian Police Force and the Nigerian Army.

Additionally, he stressed the importance of providing adequate equipment to the military to effectively combat the nation’s security threats and boost their morale. In summary, Senator Ndume urged President Bola Tinubu’s administration to prioritize the review of salaries, increase recruitment, and ensure the provision of necessary equipment to enhance the capabilities of security agencies.
