Senator Ali Ndume raises concerns about the Nigerian military’s insufficient weaponry and low morale, stating that these challenges hinder the fight against terrorism and threaten national security.
Senator Mohammed Ndume, who represents the Southern Borno Senatorial District, stated that the Nigerian military is inadequately equipped and lacks the necessary resources to effectively combat insurgency and banditry.
Ndume made this statement while also denying reports circulating on social media that his convoy had been ambushed by suspected Boko Haram terrorists.
After returning from a condolence visit to families of those recently killed by terrorists in Ngoshe, Kirawa, Ashigashiya, and other communities within the Gwoza local government area, the former chairman of the Senate Committee on Army addressed attendees at his residence in Maiduguri.
On Tuesday, I, along with other concerned stakeholders and accompanied by a military escort convoy, were on our way to Ngoshe to offer condolences to the families of those killed by terrorists before continuing on to Kirawa.
While we were on our way, we received a distress call reporting that Cameroonian soldiers and motorists had been ambushed along the Pulka-Kirawa road.

After offering comfort to the residents of Ngoshe, we gathered our courage and continued on to Kirawa despite a terrorist attack occurring along the road that very day.
We successfully arrived in Kirawa, where we offered our condolences to the families of those who were killed by terrorists last week.
“We urged residents to remain resilient and avoid panicking in response to the renewed Boko Haram attacks,” Ndume stated.
The senator stated that the ambush on Kirawa road was aimed at a Cameroonian Bureau De Change operator and businessman, Alhaji Kadi, who was killed along with an unidentified woman. Several others were injured in the incident.
Ndume added, “The military is resolute and dedicated to putting an end to Boko Haram’s chaos; however, this goal cannot be achieved unless they are thoroughly equipped, armed, trained, and motivated.”
