Despite being removed as Chief Whip of the Nigerian Senate and receiving a call from his party to join an opposition group, Senator Ali Ndume remains critical of President Bola Tinubu. Representing Borno South, he persists in expressing his dissatisfaction with the president’s actions.
Even though he was ousted, Ndume remains firm in his devotion to speak the truth even when it challenges those in authority.
During a recent press meeting, he was queried regarding the N70,000 minimum wage that President Tinubu had brokered with labor unions.
Ndume observed that there is much suffering, anger, and unhappiness among the people. He expressed satisfaction with the president’s decision to hike salaries in partnership with NLC up to N70,000; a move he deemed positive. Nonetheless, Ndume pointed out that this amount would essentially cover only one bag of rice when considered realistically.

President Tinubu was urged by Ndume to stay receptive towards the public’s feedback and effectively address the urgent requirements of Nigeria’s citizens. He laid emphasis on how genuine patriotism can be exhibited in holding leaders liable for their actions.
He maintained that blindly endorsing the president or anyone else is not patriotic. Patriotism entails divulging the truth, regardless of its impact on whoever it concerns. He staunchly subscribes to this virtue and trusts in God’s support for those who uphold it.
Ndume hoped that his message would reach the president and inspire actions aimed at easing the difficulties encountered by Nigerians.
