Ndume Apologizes to APC, Retracts Comments on Tinubu
Ndume apologizes to the APC for his comments against Tinubu. Learn more about the context and his retraction.
On Tuesday, the National Working Committee (NWC) of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC), headed by Dr. Abdullahi Ganduje, called for Senator Ali Ndume to explain his recent comments about President Bola Tinubu that resulted in him being dismissed as Senate Whip.
Dr. Ganduje conveyed the party’s contentment with Ndume’s apology after the meeting and mentioned that they would inform the Senate leadership about it for a possible reconsideration of their ruling.
Ndume was removed from his position after the NWC filed a formal complaint to the Senate regarding Borno senator’s remarks against Tinubu, led by Godswill Akpabio.
According to Dr. Ganduje, the party is content with Senator Ndume’s apology and believes that it has a paternal role towards all members of its organization.

He emphasized that the party can convene any legislator, executive member or appointed government official who belongs to their family.
As this issue concerns internal affairs within the group, they will correspond with the National Assembly regarding what took place between Senetor Ndume and them in hopes of reconsideration on their stance.
Senator Ndume admitted his error and noted that he should have brought up his concerns with the party leadership instead of discussing them on nationwide television. He affirmed to take care of any upcoming problems within the confines of the party structure.
Ndume disclosed that he had been invited to the party the previous day and was present to address family issues.
To him, the national chairman is not just a mere leader but also a father figure. As an error on his part, he admitted failing to approach or consult with party officials earlier as regards certain matters before making them public knowledge.
He promised henceforth always involving the Party in all of my disclosures. Although his arguments were expressed passionately out of love for his country, it would have been best if they were brought up at first through formal channels within their organization,” Ndume acknowledged.
Expressing his commitment to the party, Ndume affirmed that he has not been expelled as a member. The statement made by the party did not signify their wish for him to leave either.
Instead, they offered him an alternative option of choosing another house if he is dissatisfied with this one. However, being contented and devotedly loyal towards his current political affiliation, Ndume exclaimed,”This is my house; where else would I go?”
Ndume emphasized that his comments were not meant to criticize the President or their party, but rather a result of inadequate communication channels. “I want to make it clear that I did not intend to offend the President, nor did I insult him or our party in any way.
My criticism was solely directed at our inability as a party to address certain issues through proper communication channels,” Ndume concluded while affirming that the President took no offense from his remarks.
