The Niger Delta Power Holding Company L.td. has reaffirmed its commitment to cooperating with pertinent parties to address the issues posed by gas and transmission constraints.

On Wednesday in Abuja, the company’s managing director, Mr. Chiedu Ugbo, provided the guarantee in response to inquiries from State House Correspondents.

According to Ugbo, the company’s mandate was to guarantee efficient management and the protection of the organization’s assets for the general good of Nigerians.

He said that the assets the company created for Nigerians were funded in large part by the Federal, State, and Local Governments.

The assets are there, thus it is our duty to see to it that they are used for the advantage of Nigerians, according to Ugbo. We require the best possible performance from the assets, especially the ones that generate power.

Yes, there are gas limits as well as transmission and distribution limitations, but since this is a government investment, we will engage with the necessary parties to find solutions.

“And to make certain that the loads resulting from these programmes are accepted for Nigerians’ advantage. Regarding the distribution company’s collections, there is a systematic problem.

It’s a systematic problem, and as a result, we owe some petrol businesses money as well.

According to the managing director, the Regulatory Commission and the government are working to quickly address some of the problems that have been found.

Yes, there is no doubt that we are owed, Ugbo stated. We are initially viewed as government property, effectively stabilising the system.

But over time, the regulatory body has also realised the benefit of making sure our tariffs are similar.

Therefore, there have been recent changes to our generation tariff due to the necessary escalations that were made before to this administration’s transfer.

“Shortly after the previous administration ended, the regulatory commission improved our tariff, but yes, from 2013 until April, we were observing as government owned.

And while they have recognised the wisdom in doing so because we visit the same market, we see it as stabilising the system. Nobody offers us petrol at a lower price than they do.

Nobody offers spare parts to the company for less, he claims, and he continues, “therefore the regulatory commission noticed that and decided to increase our tariff.

Although still not where it should be, there have been some noticeable improvements.

Ugbo added that uptake, evacuation from the transmission company, and uptake by the distribution firms all posed problems for the entire grid.

“Transmission would not be able to take what you can generate if distribution doesn’t or is unable to accept what transmission can carry,” he continued.

Therefore, it is that easy, but we are fervently working to ensure end-to-end from generation to end users.

“Since we are now collaborating with distribution firms, we are also collaborating with gearbox companies to remove bottlenecks and guarantee that we can reach end customers.

“As you can see, there are distribution interventions happening all over the nation. Additionally, all of these actions are taken to increase the distribution businesses’ capability for distribution. (NAN)
