In July 2024, the Kano State Command of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) made a notable accomplishment in their battle against drug trafficking and misuse by obtaining convictions for 22 drug dealers.
During a press briefing on Thursday, Commander of the NDLEA in Kano, Mr. Abubakar Idris-Ahmad disclosed that these convictions signify a significant achievement in their continuous battle against drug-related criminal acts within the state.
Abubakar Mu’azu was one among the convicted. His arrest entailed a perilous clash that resulted in an NDLEA officer being stabbed. Idris-Ahmad asserted that Mu’azu received a three-year sentence at a correctional center; while other convicts were imprisoned for different periods due to their offenses, with numerous prohibited substances discovered on them.

Idris-Ahmad restated the commitment of the command to persistently combat drug trafficking and misuse, vowing to take legal action against all perpetrators.
He commended the resolute backing of the Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of the agency, retired Brig.-Gen. Mohammed Buba-Marwa, emphasizing how crucial his commitment is to their cause.
Idris-Ahmad emphasized that the agency’s operatives are resolute in bringing offenders to justice and won’t be intimidated or deterred by violence. “Our professionals are well-trained, and they will go above and beyond to ensure drug-related criminals face severe consequences,” he stated.
Idris-Ahmad appealed for the backing of the masses, encouraging them to stay alert and notify his organization about any dubious behaviors linked with drug exploitation and smuggling.
