On Friday, the Peoples Democratic Party’s (PDP) candidate for governor of Ogun State in 2023, Ladi Adebutu, faced testimony from the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) in a lawsuit brought by the federal government.

Recall that Adebutu and nine other people were hauled before the court by the Federal Government for allegedly purchasing votes in the state’s most recent election.
“We didn’t accuse anyone of vote buying,” Kenneth stated in his court testimony. We observed four individuals riding a bike on election day, carrying 52 cards that resembled ATM cards bearing the Adam Caroline Aladuni Adebutu memorial endorsement programme for reduced privileges. After taking the men’s statements and placing them under custody, we gave the police the men.
“They stated that they were leaving their place of employment after attending a meeting with other PDP leaders. At the meeting, they were given 52 cards to distribute to their members at the OGBC Polling Unit 17, and each card had N10,000 with the access code 0303.”
Goddy Uche, Mr. Adebutu’s attorney, informed the judge during his court appearance that his client was being tried for money laundering, according to several media outlets (but not Obasanjo New24).
